In the public sector, Mr. Klein served on the House of Representatives Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology during his tenure as a United States Congressman. He played key roles in legislation involving interstate banking and the closure of the Resolution Trust Corporation, which re-established the financial integrity of the Savings and Thrift Industry.
Mr. Klein served in the New Jersey Assembly, where he was Associate Majority Leader and drafted legislation creating the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. Mr. Klein also served as an official election monitor for parliamentary elections in the former Yugoslavia and the Ukraine.
In the private sector, Mr. Klein was a leader in the business. In 1961, he co-founded the First Real Estate Investment Trust of New Jersey, a publicly traded real estate investment company and the first of its kind in the State. Mr. Klein has served as principal and in management roles in more than 25 private real estate firms.
Mr. Klein was a leading trial lawyer, having tried more than 1,000 cases in state and federal courts, including dozens of appeals in the State Supreme Court and Appellate Division.
