Charu Mehta is an Associate at Genova Burns LLC and focuses her practice on litigating matters for insurance companies for whom she serves as counsel, as well as commercial real estate and redevelopment law.

Ms. Mehta handles all aspects of insurance defense work and product liability litigation. She also has developed depth of experience concerning both private and public sector cases working on church/school liability cases and general liability practice areas. She has been responsible for managing case files from start to finish, including discovery review and attending mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences. Ms. Mehta possesses extensive proficiency in working with premises liabilities while representing contractors and other commercial entities in both New York and New Jersey.

Ms. Mehta served as a law clerk at the Office of Administrative Law in Newark, NJ after graduating with her juris doctorate from Rutgers Law School-Newark Campus. In addition, Ms. Mehta holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Rutgers University – New Brunswick Campus.

Notably, Ms. Mehta was a member of The Rutgers Law School Entrepreneurship Clinic and served as Editor-in-Chief of Rutgers Race & The Law Review at Rutgers Law School - Newark.
