Ryan E. Kotler is an Associate in the Firm's Newark, NJ office and a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation Practice Group.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Kotler served as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Francis J. Vernoia, J.A.D., in the Superior Court of New Jersey – Appellate Division, where he performed legal research, analyzed applicable legal theories, and drafted bench memoranda and official judicial decisions concerning appeals in civil, criminal, family, and administrative matters. Mr. Kotler also assisted the court in preparing for oral arguments and processing emergent motions.

Prior to his judicial clerkship, Mr. Kotler worked as a Law Clerk at a firm from 2019 to 2020, where he drafted briefs and motions on behalf of plaintiffs relating to all stages of tort litigation at both the trial and appellate levels, with an emphasis on personal injury and legal and medical malpractice matters. Mr. Kotler also served as a Summer Law Clerk in the N.J. Office of the Attorney General in 2018, where he drafted briefs and motions relating to tort litigation in defense of the State. From 2013 to 2017, Mr. Kotler worked as a paralegal and office manager at a law firm where he was exposed to various practice areas, including real estate, civil litigation, criminal defense, consumer fraud, and social security. Mr. Kotler was also responsible for overseeing the firm’s short sale negotiations, and in this capacity, he worked intimately with distressed homeowners and mortgage investors towards the successful negotiation of dozens of transactions.

Mr. Kotler received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Rutgers Law School in Newark, NJ, and his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. While attending Rutgers Law, Mr. Kotler served as a Research Assistant to former Dean and current University Professor Ronald K. Chen, where he researched and analyzed N.J. Constitutional jurisprudence and assisted in the drafting of multiple amicus briefs to the N.J. Supreme Court. Mr. Kotler also served as a Teaching Associate for first-year students in Legal Analysis, Writing, and Research Skills, and he was a member of the school’s Student Bar Association and Constitutional Committee.

Mr. Kotler has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists since 2002, and he is an avid guitar player and historical autograph collector.
