George L. Schneider, Esq. to Participate on CLE Ethics Program Panel to be Presented for Essex County Assistant Prosecutors

This evening, Of Counsel George L. Schneider will join Co-Panelists Stephen Taylor, Director of Criminal Justice and Vincent Nuzzi, former First Assistant Essex County Prosecutor this evening for a CLE Ethics Program presented for Essex County Assistant Prosecutors.  Mr. Schneider and his Co-Panelists will comment on scenarios such as ethics violations that may arise in the course of criminal practice from both the perspective of both the prosecution and defense.  Acting Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and Acting First Assistant Prosecutor Robert Laurino will also join the panel. Before joining the firm, George Schneider had a long career in public service as the Essex County Prosecutor (1981-86), First Assistant Prosecutor in the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office (2002-08), NJ Deputy Attorney General, Division of Criminal Justice (1970-75), Chief Trial Counsel in the Criminal Division (1973-75), and Deputy Public Defender, Essex Trial Region (1967-70).  In 20 years of private practice, he has been a prominent criminal and civil trial attorney, trying over 150 jury trials to a verdict in New Jersey State Courts and Federal District Courts in New Jersey. As Essex County Prosecutor, he founded a Career Criminal Program targeted at vertical prosecution of repeat offenders, a Welfare Fraud Squad, a Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Squad, a Special Prosecutions Section, an Arson Squad, a Toxic and Hazardous Waste Squad, and a Victim-Witness Assistance Program.  Mr. Schneider successfully prosecuted the case State v. Ramseur, the first capital case after the reinstitution of the death penalty, and State v. Rose, which involved the murder of an Irvington police officer.
