Genova Burns is pleased to announce that Counsel Maria R. Fruci, Esq. has been appointed to various committee leadership roles by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, the New Jersey State Bar Association as well as the New Jersey State Bar Foundation.
Ms. Fruci has been appointed to serve on the District Ethics Committee for District VA (DEC VA) which includes Essex County – Newark. Ms. Fruci’s term commenced September 1st and will continue through August 31, 2026.
The Office of Attorney Ethics (OAE) acts as the investigative and prosecutorial arm of the Supreme Court of New Jersey in discharging the Court's constitutional responsibility to supervise and discipline New Jersey attorneys. The OAE assists and manages 18 district ethics committees and 17 district fee arbitration committees throughout the state. Additionally, the OAE itself handles serious, emergent and complex disciplinary prosecutions. The OAE also administers the Random Audit Compliance Program, which monitors the recordkeeping responsibilities of private practice law firms.
The Office of Attorney Ethics is an independent branch of government constitutionally entrusted with the fair and just resolution of disputes in order to preserve the rule of law and to protect the rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States and this State. Congratulations to Ms. Fruci, who has been entrusted to serve on this Committee.
In addition, Ms Fruci is honored to have been appointed to the Membership and Professional Responsibility Committees by the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Cosponsorship and Mock Trial Committees by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation. Ms. Fruci looks forward to volunteering her time and dedicating her energy to best serve these professional organizations.

Maria Fruci has been an attorney at Genova Burns LLC since 2012 and is currently Counsel in the Complex Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property, and Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practices and Co-Chair of the Fashion Law Practice.
Ms. Fruci is regularly sought out for her extensive expertise handling a wide array of complex litigation matters including fraud claims, partnership disputes, and trademark matters, from inception through trial and appeal in several State and Federal Courts. Her clientele spans from entrepreneurs, family-owned and small businesses, to large contractors.
In addition to her successful practice, Ms. Fruci is a true leader in the legal community as a Trustee of the Essex County Bar Association, and former chair of its Young Lawyers' Section, Immediate Past Chair of the NJ State Bar Association’s Women in the Profession Section, and committee director of the New Jersey Women Lawyers’ Association. Ms. Fruci – a first-generation Italian-American and daughter of small business owners – is passionate about mentoring younger attorneys and giving back to the community as a Board Member for the Boys and Girls Club of Newark, and others. These newest appointments adds to her desire in giving back.
