Dina Mastellone Named 2020 Professional Lawyer of the Year Award by New Jersey Women Lawyers Association

Genova Burns congratulates Partner Dina M. Mastellone, Chair of the Firm’s Human Resources Counseling & Compliance Practice Group and Partner in the Employment Law & Litigation Group, who has been named 2020 Professional Lawyer of the Year by New Jersey Woman Lawyers Association, an organization in which Ms. Mastellone is currently the President-Elect. This significant achievement was awarded to Ms. Mastellone by the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law. Professionalism Awards are “presented annually to carefully selected lawyers from bar associations across the state who, by virtue of their exemplary conduct, competence, diligence and demeanor, set a positive example for others.”

Ms. Mastellone’s career is a testament to the value of leadership and mentoring within and outside the firm. When asked to describe what professionalism in law means to her, Ms. Mastellone notes that this includes, “listening and being open to the viewpoint of others, even those you do not agree with, conducting yourself with integrity and treating your colleagues, clients, the bench and the bar with respect, courtesy and honesty. As lawyers, we sometimes forget how privileged we are to be in this profession. As Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg so eloquently reminded us, “If you want to be a true professional, you will do something outside yourself, something to repair tears in your community, something to make life a little better for people less fortunate than you."”

Ms. Mastellone’s outstanding professional qualifications, strong leadership and demonstrated and longstanding commitment to the NJSBA, the NJWLA, and the New Jersey legal community merits her selection for this honor. Ms. Mastellone is committed to supporting women in the profession by referring work, mentoring less senior female attorneys, and advocating for qualified women to serve in the judiciary and other appointed positions. All of these efforts have honed her legal acumen, translated into professional success and has strengthened her leadership skills.
