Angelo Genova Discusses His Professional Experience as an Election Law Attorney Fighting Voter Intimidation in Los Angeles Times

Genova continues his election media blitz with a feature in Los Angeles Times article “Activists Brace for Voter Intimidation Efforts on Election Day” where he recalls his days as a young lawyer for the Democratic party, realizing that something was “amiss on election day in 1981.” In a landmark case, Mr. Genova successfully obtained a federal court order that prevented the unleashing of the National Ballot Security Task Force to potentially intimidate voters at the ballot. “The consent decree has limited the committee’s activities in every election since then — until now.”

Angelo J. He is a former Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (2003 – 2007), former Chairman of the New Jersey Urban Development Corporation (1991 – 1992), and served as General Counsel to the Transition Team for former New Jersey Governor James J. Florio in 1989. He also served as Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association Election Law Special Committee from 1998-1999 and 1999-2000.

Mr. Genova received his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law (as well as a Master of Arts in Industrial and Labor Relations from Rutgers) in 1978, and his Bachelor of Arts from Montclair State University in 1975.
