LEAP Academy University Charter School Featured on Fox

February 24, 2011

Genova Burns client LEAP Academy University Charter School in Camden, NJ was recently featured in a story on WTXF Fox 29 News in Philadelphia. The piece highlighted the school’s merit-based pay for teachers, a compensation system negotiated with New Jersey’s largest teachers’ union by firm Partner Angelo J. Genova and Associate Nicholas J. Repici. To our knowledge, this system is the first and only merit-based pay structure to be negotiated with the union. LEAP Academy’s salary structure, implemented in July, 2007, combines modest annual increments across the board with the potential for larger merit based increments and bonuses which are based on teacher reviews and evaluations. The report focused on the school’s successes and student achievements, believed to be directly related to the teacher compensation system negotiated by GB on behalf of the LEAP Academy.
