Today’s issue of Crain’s Insider noted partner Laurence D. Laufer’s article from the www.corporatepoliticalactivitylaw.com blog on novel legal complications in changing New York City’s term limits law without a referendum.  As stated in Crain’s, “Laufer says [the state’s Municipal Home Rule Law] could lead the courts to reject an extension for the council but uphold one for the mayor, comptroller, public advocate and borough presidents.” Laufer’s article is garnering attention, including by The Daily News’s political blog, the Daily Politics, which notes that the article has “sent a chill down the spine of City Hall insiders.”
