Avi Kelin Pens Op-Ed on Autonomous Vehicles in NJ Spotlight

August 13, 2019  |  By: Avi D. Kelin, Esq.

Firm Associate Avi D. Kelin, Esq. has published an article entitled “NJ Needs to Break Gridlock on Autonomous-Car Legislation” in the Op-Ed section of the August 2019 issue of NJ Spotlight. Mr. Kelin discusses legislation, the work that must be done before New Jersey has a road test as well as insurance issues having to do with autonomous vehicles.

Mr. Kelin writes that in New Jersey “…things are moving far too slowly. Until we upshift autonomous-car legislation dramatically, traffic in New Jersey will only continue to get worse as the future of transportation in America passes us by. Right now, we are lagging behind in New Jersey, finding ourselves in the position of playing catch-up and losing time — a lot like those cars stalled on our state’s highways. He continues stating, “Consider that 37 states have either enacted legislation, or have seen governors issue executive orders, related to autonomous vehicles. Other states are passing us in research and development and our state’s autonomous-car movement is stalling. We need to do more. After all, self-driving cars can do more than offer convenience; safety is a major consideration.”
