July 1, 2025

Genova Burns LLC is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected by the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Powin, LLC to serve as co-counsel in Powin’s ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, currently underway in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

The matter marks another significant engagement for Genova Burns’ Bankruptcy, Reorganization & Creditors’ Rights Practice, which has a long-standing reputation for representing key stakeholders in some of New Jersey’s most complex and consequential restructurings. Partner Dan Stolz, Esq. commented, “We’re proud to contribute our firm’s deep legal knowledge and regional insight to support the Committee’s interests in a case that has wide-reaching implications for the energy storage industry and the broader renewable energy economy.”

Powin, a major U.S.-based integrator of battery energy storage systems (BESS), filed for Chapter 11 protection on June 9, citing financial headwinds impacting the sector. The Oregon-headquartered company has deployed more than 11GWh of BESS projects globally, with significant operations across the U.S., Canada, Australia, Taiwan, and Europe. The Chapter 11 process is aimed at allowing Powin to reorganize and preserve the core of its business while addressing its liabilities and stabilizing operations.

For decades, Genova Burns has been a trusted advocate for creditors, debtors, and fiduciaries across the region, with a proven ability to handle high-stakes matters in one of the nation’s most sophisticated bankruptcy courts.
