Michael Halfacre, Former NJ Alcohol Beverage Control Director, Joins Genova Burns

July 6, 2015

Genova Burns LLC is pleased to announce that Michael Halfacre has joined the Firm as Counsel. Mr. Halfacre is a member of the Firm’s Commercial Real Estate & Redevelopment and Business Law & Commercial Transactions Practice Groups. He will also be available for consultation to the Firm’s Alcohol & Regulated Products Practice Group.

Mr. Halfacre formerly served as Director of the New Jersey Division of Alcohol Beverage Control in the Attorney General’s Office.

“Michael’s experience running the ABC these past three years makes him an excellent choice to offer counsel to the Firm’s newly formed Alcohol & Regulated Products Law Practice Group,” said Managing Partner Brian W. Kronick. “Moreover, during his many years in private practice prior to joining the Attorney General’s Office he was highly regarded for his representation of clients in business transactional work and particularly in real estate leasing and transactions. He brings those skills and strategic abilities to the Firm as well.”

In his private practice, Mr. Halfacre specialized in transactions, including sales and refinance of commercial real estate and transfers of ABC licenses.

“I’m honored to join this prestigious law firm,” said Mr. Halfacre. Poised to rejoin the private sector, Mr. Halfacre thanks the Christie administration for the opportunity to serve the public. “I was basically a small-town attorney before joining the Attorney General’s Office as head of the ABC, and I am thrilled to join a firm with the prestige and regional presence of Genova Burns,” said Mr. Halfacre, who has also served as Mayor of Fair Haven.

“Genova Burns occupies a niche at the nexus of business, law and government,” said Kronick. “Michael’s background, experience and knowledge of top business people around the state is a perfect fit.”

Mr. Halfacre joined Genova Burns effective July 1.
