James M. Burns, a co-founder and the firm's managing partner, is based in the Newark, New Jersey office. His practice areas include labor and employment law on behalf of management and health care law.
Mr. Burns is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Community Health Charities, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. He also is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Newark Alliance. Mr. Burns also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Institute of Technology from 2003-2008 (as Vice Chairman from 2006-May, 2008).
In 2001-02, he served as Special Counsel to the Transition Committee of Governor-Elect James E. McGreevey of New Jersey.
Mr. Burns received the degree of Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1982, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seton Hall University, magna cum laude, in 1979.
